My Reader

I am jealous at how fast Emily can read!
She borrows a half a dozen books from the library at a time, and usually finishes them in a day or two. I think she is so cute when she curls up on the couch and gets lost in one of her romance novels!

Flowers by Emily

Emily did flowers for two weddings this spring. Two sisters got married a couple weeks apart.

All together she did 4 bouquets, 9 corsages, 7 boutonnières, and about 22 table arrangements!

It seems like she ends up doing one or two weddings a year. She enjoys it, but it is a lot of work, and she is glad when the job is done.

She also does arrangements here and there for different occasions. Since she is getting more regular business, she applied for a business license so she could by flowers from wholesale shops.
In the application, she had to give a business name - and thus Flowers by Emily was born!

PINK EYE!

We went over a month with at least one member of our family being sick at all times. First Tyler got pink eye - then when he was just about over it, Isaak got pink eye too. Then Noah got it, and Emily ended up getting bronchitis (probably because she didn't get any sleep while taking care of sick boys). Then Isaak got pink eye again! Finally, Tyler had a sore throat and a high fever for two days. Everyone seems OK now (knock on wood). The worst of the pink eye was Isaak's first time around. (See picture above - kind of burry) His eyes turned very red and puffed up with swelling. Every few minutes, mucus would run down his cheeks like tears. All three boys quickly got tired of us wiping the boogers out of their eyes.

Little Shavers

I took some cheep disposable razors and popped out the blade so that the boys could pretend to shave with me. I remember Dad had a blade-less razor that Glenn and I would play with. Now Isaak throws a fit if he sees me shaving, unless I let him shave too!

The end of the terrible two's?

Issak turned 3 this year. He had a lot of fun on his birthday. He and Tyler switched rolls - on Tyler's birthday, Isaak was jealous of Tyler's presents - now it was Tyler's turn to be jealous.
With Isaak turning 3, one would hole that he would have exited the terrible two's. Isaak is probably our biggest handful. He is stuck in the middle - not the baby, not the independent older brother - and he acts out to get attention. He does know how to turn on the charm though! And when we do get a chance, and make an effort to give him all the attention he wants, he is a wonderful, polite, sweet, adorable boy!

A Family Member Passes Away

I came home the last Friday of March to find that our refrigerator had died. We're not sure when it actually stopped working, because there was a small roast in the freezer that had completely thawed through. We cooked up as much as we could salvage, and put some items in a camping cooler with some ice, and went shopping the next day.
We really wanted something that had a water dispenser - so that Tyler could get a drink of water on his own and not have to bug us so often (Water is Tyler's favorite drink!)
One problem we ran into is that we had limited space to work with (specifically width). We ended up buying the thinest side-by-side refrigerator we could find...it barely fits! But we like it. Emily wanted black - our last one was beige. She would have been ok with beige, but absolutely did not want white!

Happy Birthday Emily

My birthday present to Emily this year was the 5th season of JAG. (It actually came out in January, and I think she had already watched the whole thing before I re-wrapped it for her birthday.)
Emily got hooked watching it on TV, but is enjoying watching the seasons in order. I must admit that I enjoy it too. Although sometimes I worry that she has a secret crush on Harm (played by David James Elliot) - (I will get in trouble for posting that!)
It's fun collecting the series, but after you finish one season, it is hard to know you have to wait months until they release the next season.

Valentines Day

OK, so it has been a while since our last post, and I am trying to catch up. I got Emily a double running stroller for valentines day. The store in Orem didn't have it, so we had to go up to Salt Lake. When we got it home, the screws to put it together were missing, and there was a piece of plastic that had broken off the side.
We called the store, and after a few weeks, they had a replacement for us (must be a popular ). They offered to deliver it to the house, but we opted to drive back up to Salt Lake and pick it up. This option had three advantages:
1) We were able to get it sooner.
2) We were able to open it up in the store and make sure it was in good condition.
3) It gave us an excuse to visit Shirley and Brian!
